Science with balloons

We have been doing some science experiments on Thursdays with Caroline we did a experiment was were we got a balloon and got some sellotape and we need  skewers and pocked them trough  the tape that looked very weird. We watched  a video about cool balloon experiment  and the start of the video  he rubbed it on a t sheet and the  he poured some pepper o  a tray  and the stat electricity  pick it up and it stayed.  The next one was where he did it  he did the exist same  with no  the pepper  and the he put it near water and the water would move.

In inquiry we made a pulley. A pulley is a simple machine that makes lifting heaving objects that are too heavy for the normal human. The top of the creation is called the axle it is the part that lets the rope go through.Using more pulleys makes it a lot easier to pull it up. You need a stable base so all the work stays in place. We made ours out of plastic squares from school supplies. Taller the strucksher is needed for pulling heavy stuff like stone on to high stories in the city. A giant is in cranes and other big stuff. You need a lot of string or rope that is sturdy. The hole pulley needs to be able to move. We used straws and put tape so it would not move side to side. To make the heavy object we put blocks in a plastic cup.

In  talei group we learnt about climate change and about the environment and sea levels and how it affects the animals. In Antarctica the ice is melting and it is flood island like samoa and all the  islands in are going to flood .

We did an experiment and cold and warm  mixing and we what some videos on micsin oci xand don't mix .  how to make a life cycle There were three things in a ecoivormet and they were the decomposer

Kid teach

Kid teach is where we went out of class on a Thursday to teach.  I teach hockey with my friend Kaeden. We teach 6 people and at the first one we practice dribbling  and the next one we did a game but we had a lot of complaints.were That we only got 5 min of games . I enjoyed the ferts that was dribbling. And next time do some more games . I what to do more of the dribblng I don’t want to do it again because of the complaints .

The old man and the mouse  

In the kitchen there was a trap on the bench. He had caught the mouse in a box, he started to dance. He got the mouse and he put the box outside the window and then he heard a cat and he brought  the mouse in the house to a dark room. He grabbed a knife and stabbed holes in the box so the mouse could breath and the old man grabbed the bread and some water and he got a bottle cap and put a small piece of water in the lid. He pinched some bread crumbs in the box the mouse threw the bread out of the box and turnedd his back to the old man and the old man pretended to eat the bread crumbs and he made the bread reappear. The mouse ate it and the old man tried to pat the mouse and it ran away.  

He was going to watch a movie and he falls asleep and the mouse fell  asleep with him.

We learnt about the environment. we made our environment with our buddies and we had to use three things they were the decomposer and the eaters and the providers. We got chosen to make our one it was we had a strawberry for the providers and the worms were the decomposers and eaters. Here's how we made it, we had an ice cream container and a coffee cup in the middle of the ice cream tub and the rest of the ice cream tub was filled the rest with dirt.

In the dirt we put the worms, in time the worms would eat through the cup being fertaliser for the plants.

The Tuatara

The Tuatara is a reptile.

It has three eyes but once it grows up and grows spikes on top that means that they cannot see from that eye. The tuatara has lived on earth for millions of years. The male tuatara is bigger.
Tuatara is the Maori name for spikes on the back. Tuatara live on the Southside of New Zealand because there are not so many predators and food. To catch their food they sit out of their burrows and they jump when a bug passes and the bug does not usually get away from the mouth.
The tuatara looks like a lizard and it is a reptile, Itt has spikes on its back . It has four claws on each leg.

Tower & Tinfoil Challenges!

Me and my Buddy Rylin we built a small tower. At first we were thinking of making a car with the tyres. We would of used the cup and the Popsicle sticks. The resources were the blocks and the popsicle sticks and the cups. Then my buddies gave up so i had to do it myself.

Two weeks ago our challenge was to make something out of tinfoil and pipe cleaners. So we decided to make dice. Check out the picture!

 

Sphero Battle Bot

There was a arena.  We made our design. We folded cardboard and at the front we put the cup in the middle of the cardboard.  The balloon was on the back of the cardboard.  We could colour the cardboard.  The next week we did the battle with Thomas and Shayde.  We managed to pop a balloon and win a lollipop!

Camp at Waipara

We went to the giant swing. It went very high in the air, like 100 metres. It felt like
my eyes were falling out of their sockets. Then we had morning tea which was home baking. Then we went to the team building. We had to go in teams of three and carry ice cream containers. The last activity for the day was bridge building. We had to use ropes
and big sticks. Then we went for dinner, it was beef, gravy and potatoes.
It was my favorite meal we had and then we had cheese cake. After that we had free time
before bed. In the morning we went to the raft building in the water hole. It was freezing!
The last activity was the waterslide .

Sphero Chariot Challenge!

First we started to make the wheels.  We used the card and stick the straws in the wheels
so it could.  Then we cellotaped it down so it wouldn't brake.  Then we put a plastic cup on the front
of the plastic and then we raced.  Then the bluetooth didn't work and the sphero didn't move.
