Jean Batten
Jean Batten born in Rotorua 1909 and was famous for flying
She had 2 brothers and a dad who was a dentist .The Most important person to her was her Mum. When she was 5 she moved to Auckland, she went to Gray Lynn School . She sold her piano to go to London to get her flying licence .
October the 5 she flew from Europe to New zealand in 11 days and 45 minutes in 14 224 miles solo . he couldn't fly because of the ww2 war..Her mum died in the Canary Islands . When she was 73 died in the hotel in im and it is because she got bit by a dog
